Our family used to run a general market in the old days, but in 1976, we split our business and started a Yakitonya. In the beginning, we received many customer requests, such as, “don’t you have this?” Or, “can’t you make that?” And, our menu has been growing ever since. Nowadays, in addition to Yakiton, there we serve a wide variety of items such as ginkgo, potato fries, deep-fried octopus, and other unique items. We have our menu on the wall, but I’ve lost count of what we have.

A place where you can relax in Soshigaya
Oddly, we’ve had first time visitors come in and get nostalgic. “I feel like I’m at grandma’s place,” is something we hear often. It’s a shop where you can take a leisurely look at the menu on the wall, find what just want you want to order and give yourself a break.

A shop specializing in Handmade soba, with plenty of dishes to enjoy with sake
Serving flat, handmade soba noodles, rice bowls, set menus and snacks that go great with sake. Soba (buckwheat) flour is ordered from a specialty shop in Hokkaido, which has been in business for over 120 years and been associated with us for about 80 years. Flat noodles, a rarity in Tokyo, have always been loved by locals.
À la carte dishes are also recommended
We also offer À la carte dishes for people who want to enjoy a drink with lunch. For example, try the “Simmered avocado in stock,” “Simmered watercress” and “Miso Cream Cheese,” all made from Western ingredients. We also accept reservations at year’s end for take-out soba for traditional New Year’s eve celebrations.

In this restaurant you can eat pasta with chopsticks in a calm space as you would fine Japanese cuisine. The Soshigaya branch is in a residential area, where many local customers come to relax with a meal or tea time. Great customer service and a cozy ambience are top considerations.
Fresh pasta for the discerning customer
We use fresh pasta made entirely from the highest grade of durum flour. Aged for a day, it has a fresh and gooey texture that not found in dry pasta. We want you to try our Carbonara with special cream sauce. Split the egg yolk with your chopsticks, coat your noodles with it and enjoy the rich texture.

When you order your meal, you can enjoy warm, freshly baked bread, made right in our kitchen. The outside is crispy, and the inside is soft and flavorful. Try it slathered with sauce and accompanied by the unique texture of the fresh pasta.
