It is a community-based complex for people who are unable to completely cure their illness due to illness or aging. By combining three facilities, a rehabilitation hospital, a home-visit nursing station, and a home care support facility, it is possible to perform necessary care smoothly. The hospital provides treatment for elderly people recovering after treatment who may suffer from loss of motor function, ability to feed themselves or are otherwise unable to return to normal life. The hospital also provides outpatient care and rehabilitative services and management of everyday medical problems just as a family doctor would. Daycare rehabilitation is available in 1-2 hours, half day, and full day courses, depending on the time required. Each course is administered by an expert in their field. For those who cannot make it to the hospital or clinic, home rehabilitation exercise training is provided at home. On-site consultations are also available 24 hours a day, providing patients continuous access to a physician.

A “home doctor“ who’s supported community health in post-war Soshigaya
The facility began as Kono Hospital in 1954, and since 2003, has provided continuous community-based medical services as a Kono Medical Clinic an advanced service provider equipped with patient beds. When the Soshigaya housing complex was established, many newborns were cared for in obstetrics and gynecology departments, however, treatment methodologies have since changed with the times. Currently, we provide mostly outpatient medical services, ophthalmology, and surgery. We also provide health checkups, examinations, general doctor visits, and also support home medical care.
Highly specialized medical care available
In addition to general internal medicine, doctors in the internal medicine department are focusing on specialty care (early detection and treatment of lifestyle-related diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, obesity, and metabolic syndrome). In addition to full-time physicians, specialists in digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular, radiology, and general medical care dispatched from partner universities perform outpatient medical care, examinations, diagnoses, and visits. In ophthalmology, we support primary and secondary care in all areas, including cataracts, glaucoma, corneal diseases and uveitis diseases. Uveitis, especially sarcoidosis, is a specialized ophthalmic facility. One of the features of our hospital is that cataract specialists perform surgery.
Emergency drills conducted with local people for disaster preparedness
In preparation for fires, earthquakes, storms and floods, we collaborate with the Seijo Fire Department twice a year to work with local people to conduct practical disaster drills. We train in the use of fire extinguishers, water sourcing from hospital and roadside fire hydrants, patient transport and AED use. We also work with nearby medical facilities to promote safety.
