Yakiton (grilled skewered pork intestine) specialty restaurant, open since 1950 This yakiton restaurant has been around for 70 years. The second generation proprietor, I became independent about 30 years ago and took over the shop. My father, the first owner, did not train me much but often said during my apprenticeship at the restaurants, “steal cooking techniques with your own eyes, don’t rely on a master.” Now, I made Yakiton’s “Hiroha” in my own way.

Crowds come in before we open

Even before opening, customers come in without permission and the counter may be full even before we begin our day. At 17:30, I stand in front of the charcoal grill and orders come in one after the other. We may not politely ask, “what would you like?” but we do hear you. So, please do not hesitate to order.

I like shochu that I can control the alcohol content. Lately, I tire easily (laughs), so I sometimes close early. So, you may want to visit us in earlier than later.

Ordering “Omakase (Chef’s choice)” at the counter is easy

We offer a “Counter Omakase Nigiri” (3700 yen) so that even those who do not know how authentic Edo-mae sushi is made or how to order can enjoy it — no problem. In addition, there is also a “Counter Omakase Course” (6800 yen), with assorted sashimi and grilled dishes. Recommended for those who want to enjoy a meal and conversation without worrying about orders.

A yakiniku restaurant that’s been a local favorite for many years

We’re good, inexpensive and have many regular customers. We feature a wide range of meats, from reasonably priced to top-ranked wagyu. On weekdays, there are always lines outside the shop, of the after-work crowd. On holidays, we’re popular with college students and families.

Excellent kimchi and rice

Regular and cucumber kimchi made in our own factory are popular items that are only available here. Take out orders also possible. We use special Koshihikari rice from Niigata Prefecture.

Chinese cabbage kimchi 369 yen (excluding tax) is a popular dish even for people who don’t usually care for kimchi


The finest, carefully selected Japanese “black steer” beef that we use is melt-in-your-mouth delicious
